What Is PVD Plating?
Standard gold electroplating deposits a thin layer (0.3–0.5 micron) of gold onto a base metal using an electric current. It works — briefly. The layer sits on the surface and erodes through everyday friction, moisture, and skin chemistry, typically within weeks to months.
Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) is a vacuum-chamber process. Metal is vaporised at extremely high temperatures and deposited onto the base metal in a near-vacuum environment. The gold bonds at the atomic level — not sitting on the surface, but fused into it. The result is a layer 4–10 times thicker than electroplating, dramatically harder, and built to last years of daily wear.
PVD requires specialised vacuum chamber equipment — the kind used in aerospace and medical device manufacturing. This is why almost no jewellery brand in India offers it. Carryallco does.
What Our 5-Year Warranty Covers
- Anti-tarnish guarantee — If your piece tarnishes or discolours under normal wear within 5 years, we address it. No questions asked.
- Replating — If the gold finish wears in any area, we replate it using the same PVD process used to make it. This is only possible because we own the equipment. Other brands cannot do this.
- Replacement — If a piece cannot be restored, we replace it.
What the warranty does not cover
- Damage from strong chemicals (bleach, solvents, pool chlorine)
- Physical damage from impact or bending
- Intentional misuse
Normal daily wear — rain, sweat, washing hands, light water exposure — is exactly what this warranty is designed for. That is what demi-fine jewellery is for.
Why Other Brands Cannot Offer This
Replating with PVD requires the same vacuum-chamber equipment used in original manufacturing. Standard brands use electroplating workshops — common, low-cost, and widely available. PVD facilities are rare. In India's jewellery market, Carryallco operates the only such facility for consumer jewellery.
This is why, when you ask another brand: Can you replate my jewellery if the finish wears? — the answer is no. When you ask us, the answer is yes.
How to Claim Your Warranty
- Email us at cocarryall@gmail.com with your order number and a photo of the issue
- We assess whether it falls under normal wear conditions
- If approved, we arrange collection and either replate or replace your piece
- Your restored or replacement piece is returned to you — at no cost
