How to Measure Your Ring Size at Home
Method 1: String or Paper Strip
- Cut a thin strip of paper or use a piece of string about 10cm long.
- Wrap it snugly around the base of the finger you want to measure.
- Mark or pinch where the paper/string overlaps.
- Lay it flat against a ruler and measure the length in millimetres — this is your circumference.
- Use the table below to find your ring size.
Method 2: Existing Ring
- Take a ring that fits the finger you're measuring.
- Measure the internal diameter of the ring in millimetres.
- Match the diameter to the table below.
Tip: Measure in the evening — fingers swell slightly during the day and in warm weather. If you're between sizes, go up one size.

Which Finger Are You Measuring?
Ring sizes vary by finger. Your index finger is typically 1–2 sizes larger than your ring finger. Your dominant hand fingers are usually half a size larger than your non-dominant hand. Always measure the specific finger you plan to wear the ring on.
Tips for an Accurate Measurement
- Measure in the evening — fingers swell throughout the day and in warm weather.
- Avoid cold mornings — fingers are slimmest when cold, which gives an inaccurate small reading.
- Measure 2–3 times — take the average for the most accurate result.
- Between sizes? Always go up one size — a ring that's slightly loose is easier to resize than one that's too tight.
- Wide bands fit tighter — if buying a wide band ring, go up half a size.
